Zenana!

Little over a day turnaround on this comic. Good ol' C.K. did the writing - thanks to him there's a whole lot more character and definition. There really isn't a back story to this one; the challenge was coming up with a one page comic that feels like its taken straight out of a bigger story (so the first panel has a hook, and the last leaves with a cliffhanger). A random vignette.

Belt Functionality - Frog Get!

So after a lot of concept development and coffee, Shane Park and I finally figured out how Chaser's belt works. As previously shown, he has the ability to change between different costumes. He has 8 options. It works very much so like a combination lock in that you turn the arrow dial on the belt buckle 180 degrees clockwise to activate the device - then turn it counter clockwise to choose which suit he wants - then he turns the dial back clockwise to the default position to confirm his choice and wallah!
Transformation....

Blissful Thumbs

Over the weekend C.K. and I finally finished the layout (and thumbnails) for a completely re-tooled first chapter of 'Boo Noon'. So far so good, I'm really proud with what we have hammered out so far. Here's a peak into what some of the story will be.

PoP

Fun project - designing gift cards for a shopping mall. Fortunately for me the client was privy to the idea of tapping into a little 60s fashion action.

Gigi

Recently I'd say three quarters of my personal time goes towards the production of my graphic novel, 'Boo Noon'. I've posted some stuff on it before, but my friend C.K. and I have really been moving forward on it; retooling a lot of story stuff and making art and writing changes.
Let's just say it's been revamped.
Anyways, we plan to have the first 3 issues done by june of next year. 25 pages each. Here's a teaser.

Kingly Serpentine

Some more character design stuff from Chaser. There are several races in the story (which besides humans are all anthropomorphic animals), the villain in the story is a race of evil snake men called the Serpens. They basically control the world. This is one direction of a basic goon.

It's a Magic Belt

Worked on some Chaser stuff over the weekend. It turns out that the belt he wears can actually do something - transforms him into different suits of different animals, thereby giving him different powers. There are 11 altogether, these are just a first pass. Bottoms up.

Ram You

My good friend Shane Park came up with this idea. It's my understanding that rams and sheep have this strange affinity for trampolines. I've actually seen it before. Well, not the getting-caught-in-the-telephone-wire part, but.....yeah.

Electric Feel

This was one the most recent web projects I was working on while the rest of the department was having fun at Comic Con; they're a handful of 2-minute animations describing the ins-and-outs of an electric company in Pennsylvania. Make sure you mess around with the coffee before watching any of the videos.
Actually, I take it back. Don't watch any of the videos, just mess around with the coffee.

Polka with me

Little comic my friend C.K. thought up.

Bad Mo-Cap Rap

This was a local TV spot I did. I know, I know, the song's amazing. Sadly (besides the VO) it's the only thing I can't take credit for. This was my first foray into the enemy territory widely known as "Motion Capture". Quick turnaround on this sucker.

Moors!

Back in march I came up with this concept for a short comic series starring an elephant conquistador (Moops) and a little chinamin (Kine). I've come up with a few ideas that have ironed the premise out -- which focuses mainly on tolerance...or rather, the lack thereof. The conflict stems from the fact that these two characters really don't understand each other and have opposite personalities; every comic ends with the elephant eating the little chinese kid whole.
Actually, I don't think that's what happens. But the two definitely get on each other's nerves.
Now if only I could get my friend C.K. to write a few of these...

Pink Test No. 4

Been a while since I've posted. Work has been devouring my soul, and I've been busy working on the graphic novel. Got home late last night; I don't know what it was, maybe the Salmagundi salad I had for dinner that inspired me to take a break and put this together. It's really just a loose test shot for a short animated concept I have. I've always been interested in After Effects papercraft-like 3D components. I always like to see how far I can push it.
Anyways, this took me about 3 hours to piece together. One thing to note is that all of the art is made within AE, just from solids and masks. Only 5 seconds, and I plan on putting in characters and effects later.

Chaser comin' at ya!

Here's another piece. The title of this whole project is called 'Chaser' -- its about a boy and his ship that can fly and go underwater. Believe me, there's more story; just not really in the mood to say much more than that. Enjoy.

Chase this

So I've re-designed the two main characters for this pitch. It's aimed largely at 8-13 year old boys. I had a different idea for the vignette, but couldn't get to it in time. Anyway, enjoy, and think orange puffy clouds... and mongooses.
